The Fire at Pine Colorado

The Spring/Summer of 2000 was a very dry year for Colorado, as it was for most of the mid-western states.  We had several fires this Spring and one, unfortunately, was very close to home.  At the closest point the fire was only 3 miles from our house!  Many of our friends were evacuated.  When the flames were finally put to rest, 38 homes and 4 structures had been destroyed in our little community.  The following pictures were taken the day the fire was closest to our house.

Our community could have lost many more homes, but the firefighters gathered around many homes and saved them from destruction.  Our community was SO thankful that we had a parade for our firefighters.  We showed up with signs and our voices expressing our thanks.
